What We Do
At Shannon Aviation Museum, we strive to give people the love for aviation that they simply just haven’t found yet. Across the generations, everybody enjoys themselves when they get into the spirit of things, aviation is a universal and ageless language.
Our Mission
Our mission at the museum is to inspire and educate as many people as we can about the world of aviation as a whole, from flight simulation experiences to the history of flight, the development of aviation technology and everything in between.
Discover the skies where history flies in the heart of Shannon Aviation Museum. Take a step back in time and wander among the wings of iconic vintage aircraft on a museum tour, running at 2pm subject to availability, or explore the the museum anytime at your own speed with the aid of the Interactive Audio Tour.
Get dressed up Top Gun style in your flight suit, learn how wings produce lift and the fundamentals of flight! Your pilot instructor will then demonstrate the controls on your virtual aircraft, an aerobatic Extra 300.
Challenge your family or friends to a race around New York! Take off from JFK and fly towards the Statue of Liberty, first to loop the course and land wins! Following your flight simulator experience, you will be guided through Shannon Aviation Museum to learn more about the exhibits. Wander among the wings of iconic vintage aircraft, marvel at the sleek lines of past fighter jets, sit into the cockpit of an aircraft and take lots of great photos to share!

Our Boeing 737-800NG Flight Simulator is constructed using a cockpit section of a real aircraft, C-GAPW which was in service for over 30 years! The flight deck features many original Boeing parts which add to the incredible realism of this unforgettable experience!

To start off our Scouting Ireland Air Skills Badge programme, all scouts learn about aircraft, their controls, how an aircraft produces lift and the fundamentals of flight. Next, learn how to fly your aircraft virtually as your pilot instructor demonstrates your activity! Race around New York in an Extra 300 aerobatic aircraft against your fellow scouts, first one to loop the course wins!
After everyone’s flight simulation experience, it’s time for an interactive guided tour of the museum with one of our tour guides.
