About Us

The Start:

Founded in 2007 by Eddie Ryan and Jane Magill, Shannon Aviation Museum has grown wings, but we are still a work in progress with much more we have on the plans to do.

What We Do:

Here at Shannon Aviation Museum, we strive to give people the love for aviation that they just haven’t found yet. Across the generations, everybody enjoys themselves when they visit and get into the spirit of things,  aviation is a universal and ageless language!

Our Goal:

Our goal here at the museum is to inspire and educate as many people as we can about the world of aviation as a whole, from flight simulation experiences to the history of flight, the development of aviation technology and everything in between.

Our History

We have come a very long way since 2006 with the help of the amazing team at Clare Local Development Company and Leader Grants to expand the museum and purchase aircraft exhibits. We couldn’t have done it without the Bank of Ireland Shannon and the AIB Shannon who believed in us and have worked with us to facilitate borrowing to match funding the grants every time.

We really love what we do, but its not easy.  We find people are often surprised to hear we are an independent entity, we have always considered ourselves to be a social enterprise, our running costs are all covered by our daily activities, that’s why we need you to visit us, recommend us and be an advocate for us!

We thank our valued partners and Patrons who assisted the 2018 expansion of Shannon Aviation Museum co funded by the Dept. of Rural and Community Development, Towns and Villages Scheme, via Clare County Council. We are proud that EI Electronics continue to support the facility in 2022 with our  340 sq m expansion underway with a significant donation for co funding.

Thanks to Mick Guinee, EI Electronics for being so generous on both expansion projects  and to our twin, Atlantic Air Adventures a vital part of our life support system. A big thanks to Paddy Purcell for kicking it off, to Patrick Jordan and Atlantic Aviation Group for the new extension floor and to John Slattery Resin Floors.ie for painting said extension floor!

Exhibit after exhibit, year after year, bit by bit, our determination to firmly establish  Shannon Aviation Museum for the future has grown along with its passionate team and support base.

Onward and Upward!
