We are delighted to announce that ISTAT Foundation is sponsoring 16 young people ages 12-18 to attend a week long packed Aviation Careers Experience at Shannon Aviation Museum from  Tues 3rd – Fri 6th May 2022.  
Ideal as a TY work experience week, but open to all students from 1st 6th Year, everyone will have a wonderful opportunity to learn about aviation and meet real life role models who are working in the sector.  Aviation draws from a vast spectrum of skills and backgrounds.
Students will hear first hand experience from pilots and engineers in the Irish Air Corps who explain about the diversity of careers and options available to young people within the organisation. 
They will also hear from Aircraft Engineers, Commercial Pilots,  Air Traffic Controllers  
and understand about the world business of Aircraft Trading, Financing and Leasing in Ireland.  
Everyone gets a behind the scenes tour of an aircraft engine repair facility, a maintenance training centre and a tour of a live aircraft maintenance hangar at Atlantic Aviation Group, it’s a real eye opener.  Plus, a chance to fly the B737NG flight simulator with an airline pilot, an amazing highlight of the week!

This is a Aviation Career Experience Week, if you are in TY this may be ideal for you, but the programme is open to students from 1st – 6th year. If you have a passion for Aviation just complete ISTAT Aviation Academy 22 Application Form and tell us why you want to attend!

Closing Date is extended to Thurs 28th April. Students parents will be notified by email if their son/daughter receive a place.

There are 16 places.  
Students must be be available for the dates specified.
Students must arrange transport to Shannon Aviation Museum,  Shannon Town and bring a good packed lunch and snacks for the day.  Accommodation is not provided.

This course fee is kindly sponsored by ISTAT Foundation
A contribution by students to pay for the bus transport for external trips is required, €50 payable on acceptance of the offer to Shannon Aviation Museum.

  • 2019 ISTAT Foundation grant aid enabled the equipping of our Aviation Discovery Workshop with cool Science Kits and Test equipment.
  • 2020 ISTAT Foundation funded a Billboard Marketing Campaign on the N7 for 6 months.
  • 2021 ISTAT Foundation Easter Academy is approved for grant aid, slightly delayed until April 22 due to Covid Restrictions.
