History:
The Piper Cherokee family is a a family of all-metal, unpressurized, single engine, piston powered, low-wing aircraft. They are especially popular with training clubs due to their rigidity, reliability and simplicity.
The first flight of the Cherokee family was on the 14th January 1960, and it is still in production, with over 33,000 different units built since then.
Multiple different variants exist, even military versions.

- The Cherokee's full name is actually Piper PA-28-140 Cherokee
- It had one Lycoming O-320-E2A engine, with approximately 150 horsepower
- The Cherokee had a top speed of 229km/h (123 knots)
- It cost €40,000 to buy the Piper Cherokee new in 1970
- Our Cherokee, EI-COZ, was used by Atlantic Flight Training Academy (AFTA) in Cork Airport to train thousands of young ambitious pilots for over 10 years.
- It had a surface ceiling of 14,300 feet
- It was certified to carry 1 crew member (the pilot) and 3 adult passengers, meaning 4 adults could fly in the Cherokee together at one time.
